As long as your post is more interesting.its all about competition.but yes i agree on the 3 purpose you have listed specially on the 1 and 2. As a poster on a blog you make sure that your readers will be satisfied on what you have just serve from them. Even if they already see that your post have something similar to other blog as long as you improve it or you have more list that interest the readers then it would be fine and more useful. People want more and new resources that will help them. As your goal and other design blogger is to have more traffic so you would prefer to observe the other famous bloggers how they run there blog and you get the idea and improve it. Not just because there blog that are famous like smashingmagazine then you just stay on the corner and observe that famous blog to be more famous? remember all of us start at the beginning. losers never quit,quitters never win.
